Half Century on our Tandem Bike

May 21, 2018

This past Sunday, we completed one of our bucket list dreams: we finished the Santa Fe Half Century on our trusty tandem bike, Beluga. What a day! 50 miles in 4:08 hours, top speed of 36 mph, and 2,485 feet of elevation gain. It was a clear, crystal blue sky day with strong headwinds 90% of the time, but the views of Cerrillos and Galisteo were amazing.

Couples that Workout Together, Stay Together

May 17, 2018

We live for the weekends! After a long work week, we hit our weekends even harder. We each have our independent workout routines during the week, so we use the weekend for fun workout activities we can do together.

Now, keep in mind, couples fitness is not always easy or the best option for all forms of exercise. We’ve had to finesse a few of our routines and goals for the betterment of our marriage. Ha! So, here are a few things I like to keep in mind when planning our weekend activities that involve working out together and couples fitness.

Fitness for Champions

January 28, 2018

In this post, I would like to share with you some of my fitness goals for the year, as well as my philosophy on health and fitness. One of my biggest concerns with modern day society is that it is becoming widely accepted that as we hit middle age, it is perfectly acceptable for us to be on multiple medications, have clogged arteries, be overweight, and lose our strength and flexibility

Mortality

February 21, 2017

Mortality: this is at the heart of what it means to be human. We have limited time available to us, and we must choose what we do with that time. One way to extend and improve our time on this planet is through exercise and a healthy diet.

Sticking to New Year's Resolutions

January 09, 2017

I want to take this opportunity to share a little bit about sticking to fitness New Year's Resolutions. First of all, it is hard. Really, really hard to stick to them. I am guilty of making many ambitious resolutions, only to find in 2-3 weeks, if not 2-3 days, I have started to skimp. NO MORE I SAY! I wanted to share some tactics and techniques that work for me to help stick to my fitness goals. Some of these are probably old school and some may be new. I just want to share what I personally have done before that worked for me.

Get Fit This Year

January 03, 2017

Let's get started!

I have always been interested in health and fitness. From a young age, I have read magazines, articles online, and been active in one way or another. That being said, I have lately struggled with staying physically active and in good shape. From a desk job, to hanging out around the house, to just being lazy or “busy,” I can come up with endless excuses to not work out. I want to share my experiences in this section to hopefully connect with many readers out there who are in the same boat, and share some ideas for us to help overcome our excuses and become healthier and happier.
